Rick Kelo Recommends Hiring Tax Professionals Before You Need Them

The fourth quarter for businesses is often the most hectic and difficult, with a strong year end sales push culminating in the end of the calendar year, marking the holiday and many business resorting to a skeleton crew the last week of the year. Even when fiscal year ends do not coincide with calendar year end, preparation for the next year has begun. And, oftentimes that starts with preparing taxes. If your company has an in-house tax professional, that rather daunting procedure is minimized because of their expertise, education and knowledge of your states ever changing tax laws.

April 15 is an immovable date, and although the year has ended, it has just begun in the eyes of tax preparers. Your small business, or even your large business, for that matter, has had ups and down, maybe some investments, pay outs, real estate or rentals,  and perhaps even some back taxes from previous years. All of this will have adverse effects on your filings, and it is imperative to have a tax professional who knows the intricacies of the IRS and your business.

Your companies tax professional can save you money at tax time, which is of course music to your bottom lines ears. And, having an in-house tax professional gives you a partner who is there for you and your company should you be audited. Your tax professional helps your company befor, during and after tax preparation. Could your brother or friend prepare your company’s taxes? Technically they can, using business tax software, but do they have the experience to represent you should there be an issue with the IRS? Business taxes are not something you want to leave to chance and luck. The future of your company depends on it.
